Why does my transmission light come on when my ford is in park? Do I need a service? Can you show me how?

Hello,

There are several reasons for the transmission light to come on.
Step one would be to get the vehicle scanned for transmission trouble codes.
That could point you to the right direction.

Do you have any drivability issue?
Does it shift different or make any strange noises?
Are there hesitation when you accelerate?

If the transmission has not been serviced for a while it is always a good idea to do so.
However the transmission light almost always related to some type of sensor, and when you pull the codes it will give you a general idea what it might be.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
