Hello Im wondering if anyone has ever ran into this issue I am having. I have a 1998 E-250 van and im having a starting issue. When I turn the key all the dash lights come on showing that the battery is fully charged, but wen I turn the key it will not turn over. If I unhook the battery terminal for about 5 seconds, then put it back on. The van will fire right up. If I shut it off, then I have to repeat the process to get it going again. Originally I thought maybe the starter wires were loose or coroded but I changed the starter already and cleaned the connections. Im leaning more towards an anti theft type system possibly failing? I need help with this Please if anyone knows anything.[/B]

When you get into your van do you use a remote entry key to get in? It sounds like your on the right track when you diconnect the battery you are resting it all and it starts. It sounds like you have a bad antitheft module you have changed keys or anything like that? Some of the new keys have chips built into them. You can't go and have a key made anymore. They got to come from the dealer and they got to be programed to the vechical (NOS) 8)

The vehicle has a factory keyless entry remote. And yes, the key is the style with the chip inside of it. I talked to a guy that makes them keys and he said he can make a new key and reporgram the system that controls that function so I guess I am going to try that first.

I wasn't saying to go buy new keys. I was asking if you had alread bought a key and got the wrong one.
Also if the module is bad a new key won't help you you may have to take it do a dealer to find out just what is up with it. The reason I asked about the key is that some people will get extra keys made but no by a dealer and use just and ordanary key and it will work for awhile but then all of a sudden it won't start it goes into lock mode untill the right key is used a factory key(NOS)
