1993 Ford F-250 Engine hesitates and stalls

My engine wiil hesitate and sometimes stalls, the check engine light comes on I have changed the fuel filter twice(2) and it helps for awhile, it also backfires and you have to rev up the engine to keep it going. Thanks Scott

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
