Engine stalls

My 2002 F 250 Turbol Diesel 7.3 engine, stalls on me, sometimes it start and runs for about 2 to 3 miles and then it stalls, won't run, sometimes it will start again then it does it again. Sometimes it won't start for a while, I crank it again and again than it starts?
