Transmission leak

I have a 96 f-150 4x4 with a c-6 transmission, 103,000 miles. The transmission recently started leaking a small drip. Three months later (prox 1000 miles) the leak has progressed to a puddle. The leak is in the front. I assumed the front seal so I removed the transmission and replaced the front seal (that the tork converter seats). After running the truck for 10 minutes and checking for leaks I shut it off. 15 minutes later the same puddle appeared under the same spot. It doesn't leak while idling.

It's possible the seal you replaced is leaking also. I've had it happen before. Double check the tranny and make sure the fluid is not coming from somewhere else before removing. I know it can be a bitch sometimes

Thanks for the speedy response.I failed to mention that the seal I took out had no visual flaws. Also the tork converter had a funny wear spot much like a cresent (out of round). Could it possibly be a warped flex plate or bearings inside of the tranny? It's the only thing that makes sense of how fast this thing developed a serious leak, and only leaks when the truck is turned off and is still hot.

If the torque converter seems to have wear, get a second opinion before replacing it. Just be sure to change the seal again if you need to replace the converter.
