Engine Mechanical problem
2005 Ford F150 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I was driving when engine light came on, pulled over and heard engine knocking. Had it towed to Ford repair show. Came back that #3 spark plug was broke, and repair was made.
Friend of mine drove the truck home, and when it got here to my house I still heard knocking. Had it towed back to ford. They call me and tell me I need a new engine for $7500.00 with no explanation of why besides compression is down.

This truck only has 51,000 miles on it, and now Im making payments on this truck that I cant drive! It has been regularly serviced, plus some. Do you have any suggestions as of what may have happened? Furthermore do you have any leads to what I should do as far as the repair shop sending truck home still knocking after saying repair was made?

A knock is a bad sign, it usually means a bad wrist pin on the pistons, or a bad bearing insert on the crank end. But if the compression is also low, ring or cylinder wall wear is also evident, did you drive it low on oil? Anything said about oil pump failure? The other REAL possibility is involved with the TSB on plug removal, If it is a very load puffing sound, your plug may have blown out of the head due to improper removal, and installation of the old plug.
