How do I remove the r/rear axle from the rear end? I have the rear backing plate removed, hoghead cover also removed. Must I remove the spider gears also just to replace a grease seal.

I assume you have a semi floating axle otherwise you would see the bolts that you would remove and slide the axle out.

The semi floating axle has a C clip inside the differential that you need to push the axle in towards the center of the differential and then with the cover removed, you can spin the carrier around until the opening is facing you and you will see the end of the axle shaft and there will be a clip on it and that needs to be removed.

Then you can slide the axle out.

Here is a video that shows how to do this. Clearly this is a Chevrolet truck, but they have C clips as well.

Please run through this and then see the info attached and let me know what questions you have. Thanks
