The truck starts up just fine and will idle nicely, yet when the gas pedal is pushed, the engine dies unless you feather it. When able to reach a higher rpm, the truck backfires quite a bit. What could be possible causes?

Have you checked for vacuum leaks, fuel pump pressure, and has the check engine light come on? It sounds like a bad throttle position sensor, but without scanning the computer, that is a guess.

Let me know.
