The truck squeaks on start-up, idle, and while driving. The squeak gets faster with more gas and I think it's the main belt but I'm not sure.

Took it to mechanic and it was quiet for a few days after (thought it was fixed for good) and has now come back.

any ideas on a permanent fix?

will a new belt do it?

He did not replace anything.

He said he roughed up (abraded) the belt surface so it would not squeak.

Thanks

Yes you are right, it could be a problem with pulley allignement or alternator not align with other pulley.
It will be good to check pulleys.
