Hello
Thanks for the donation.

Engine Fail-Safe Mode initiates when the engine computer(s) note a problem that can cause serious damage to the engine or electrical components. The car engages this mode and will not go into higher gears as a protective measure. Since your vehicle will not start at all, it sounds as if you may have a faulty alternator. You can remove alt. to have tested for free at a local auto part store or boost it off again and limp vehicle to auto part store. Battery should run the vehicle long enough to drive short distance (few miles) to store and back. If doing this, try not to use any elec. equipment such as headlights, a/c, heater , radio etc.. unless absolutely necessary.

Hope this helps..
