This '04 Explorer is in excellent shape. Miles mostly highway. And vehicle is paid for. Today, something happened with transmission. Vehichle wil not shift up to higher speeds (over 40). Wondering how serious this could be and cost. And if worth the price inconsideration of vehicles age?

Most likely cause is a bad speed sensor. Certainly it is worth the repair. Where I live, there are much older cars in daily use! Age is not as much of a consideration as condition.
