The backup sensor defaults to off the second I put the vehicle in reverse. I put it back in park and am able to turn the dashboard switch to on but it continues to turn off instantly as I move the shifter through reverse. I've cleaned the area and looked for obvious problems but all appears to be normal.

Thank you

You have a faulty back up sensor. You need to take it to the dealership to find out which sensor it is. Also, some of the sensors may have to be painted to match the bumper.
