Engine Performance problem
1994 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I replaced the Oxygen Sensors and it is still smoking from the exhaust and you can smell fuel really bad. I was going to buy an idle air control sensor but I want to make sure this is the problem first.

Probable causes of an engine running rich are as follows:

1. Fuel pressure not within specs. Can be cause by restricted fuel return line or defective fuel pressure regulator.
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
