Tried hitting the gas in reverse while trying to shift out of 4 low? I had to replace the 4X4 shifter on my 98 f150 because it rusted so badly.

Good luck and let us know. :)

If you need to move it your going to have to climb under it and take the motor off the transfer case (preferrably put the truck up on jackstands) then manually shift the lever (it should be a disk with a triangle in the middle of it) all the way the other direction till you get it into 2wd.(This may take some doing and you have to be careful not to damage the triangle. If you have to turn one back wheel while holding the other to help you shift it out of gear). Then put the electric motor back on and Unplug the wiring so when you start the truck it doesn't shift back into low range on you. Drive it home and you can fix it properly from there. Please note if you do not put the motor back on the triangle the lever may move while driving and put you into neutral or 4h. That iswhy you must put it back on. Also this is a temporary fix to get you home not a permanent repair.
