Faulty fuel gauge

I can fill my car up with gas and the gauge will not go past half tank and the hand jumps around. Already had both sending units replaced.

It will go to full but will not show empty or lower than half of tank.

Please help me.

It sounds as if the sender has been damaged when installed, if it is going to full, the electrical side is sound, but the sensor is not going to full low deflection with a low fuel load, I feel that this is where the problem is, start here.

If you earth the wire that goes to the sender the gauge should go from empty to full, this is the best way to prove the cluster gauge is ok.
