Engine light stays on (not check engine). Code shows 0. Changed gas cap (about 40000 miles) and it went off. It is on again. What can I do? There is strong fuel smell.

Do you mean the light with the engine outline and an arrow pointing down in the middle orange pointer? That is the reduced power indicator and it means there is a problem in either the engine controls, EVAP system or the transmission. Hard to tell which without looking it over in person and maybe hooking up a scan tool and testing the various systems.
Strong fuel smell is not good, it could be a leaking fuel line or bad connection. Bad vent line or fill pipe.
Take it to a shop and have them look it over.

According to the diagram, is the engine light marked with a blue arrow. No loss in power or performance.

OK, That is the Check Engine Light. It means you have a code stored, Have it scanned and post the exact code(s) they tell you. Be advised that most parts stores only scan for the required OBDII codes, It's possible that the code that turned the light on is a manufacturer specific code that takes a better scan tool than most of those places use to read them.

I suspect it's an EVAP code if you can smell fuel, probably P0455 which is a large leak. But get it scanned and we'll see what we can do.
