I need to know which one of the engine temperature sensors is the one for the ECM. They are located behind the thermostat and set side by side. I need to change the ECM sensor for a cold start. Thanks

Hi,

I looked up the info and the ECT for the computer is highlighted in the pic below. Additionally, the directions for removing and replacing are also included.

Let me know if this is what you need or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the information but I was told that the sensor on the passenger side was for the ECM. Are you sure the sensor on the driver's side is for the ECM and not for the cluster?
Sorry to question you but it's important to know which one it is.
Thanks, Larry

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. I would want to be sure too.

As far as the sensor, if you look at the pic below, it shows the ECT related to the computer. That is where I went to get the removal and replacement directions.

If I recall, that is correct. If it was wrong, there would be a lot of upset people with Alldata. LOL

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

Sorry Joe to be a pain but the illustration shows the sensor to be the one for the cluster, is that right? So the other one is for the ECM is that what you are saying?

Thanks again for your help.

Larry,

You are not a pain at all. According to the manual, the pic indicates the ECT for the computer and not the gauge.

I have absolutely no idea why Ford placed them side by side. Anything to make it more confusing. LOL

Take care and please feel free to let me know if you have questions. You are not bothering me in any way.

Sorry to ask this question again, is the sensor on the passenger side for the ECM or the sensor on the driver side for the ECM? I am a little bit confused.

Thanks, Larry

Hi,

Looking at the picture above, it appears to be the one on the right side if you were standing at the front of the vehicle. Sitting in the vehicle, it would be on the driver's side.

Let me know how things turn out for you.

Take care,

Joe
