I turned my vehicle on today and when I went to reverse; the car rolled forward and the steering wheel was locked. I tried pressing the gas but nothing happened even when I pressed it down all the way. I then put it into drive and the gas still didn't work but then the brakes stopped working. So I parked and put on my emergency brake. After a bit I turned my car back on and everything worked fine. Any clue what happened?

Is there any chance that the engine had stalled?

It sounds like that due to the engine being off the throttle would not work and the steering was hard. Did this happen when the vehicle was sitting on a hill?

If so, I would suggest checking the engine oil as it this is low the engine will shut off if you have the 2.4L engine. You did not note that but that would make the most sense.

I attached the info below on how to check the oil on this engine.

This this was not the case and when you stepped on the pedal the RPM raced but the vehicle did not move then we may have a trans issue.

We need to start with checking for codes as there are likely some codes for the valve body.

If this only happened one time then I would not be overly concerned unless it happens again or more often.

Let's start with this and go from there. Thanks
