I was changing the distributor over the weekend and saw that the transmission mount that is located right under the battery of the fender tower is shot. How would I go about changing that mount? Would I need to put a jack under the transmission or would the engine need to be supported.

Thanks

Hey GLENN GILBERT,

I have attached the instructions for replacing the mount you described.

It shows the engine/transmission being supported from above.

You can support the engine/transmission from below using a jack and a piece of wood to distribute the load. As is it the transmission end mount you will want to support it at the transmission end if possible. As there are other mounts still holding part of the weight there should not be too much to support with the jack but still make sure whatever you are jacking on is solid. If on an oil pan use a large flat piece of wood to spread the load and be careful not to crush any oil lines/wiring etc.

Hope that helps, if you need any further info please don't hesitate to ask.

If you want to take a picture of where you are placing the jack to be sure you have it supported in a good spot please feel free.

Regards, Joe
