Hi
Sounds like you got the 3 min. 30 ft. Warrenty.
O.K. Here is what you do pull plug wire off hold 1/4 from block crank spark? If yes then spray carb cleaner into throttle body crank does if fire?
Let me know
Also do you have a Digital volt ohm meter?
Thanks for donate

Thanks I will have to try this tonight and let you know
for I am at work at the moment.

(should I just stop at autoparts on way home and buy plugs and wires, cap and rotar if truck has them. )

I will check wires for spark like you said and then spray starting fluid in throtle body. I also own a fuel pressure tester so I will try that also,

I do not have a digital ohm tester, but I can borrow one from work, what will I be checking with that?

Geat when we determine if lost fuel or spark then I'll lay out a diagostic proceedure. Would not get wires and plugs just yet. Lets get the testing done first.

Ok
I went home and tried to start truck, it turnd over many times but woldnt fireso batery and starter good

then I hooked up fuel pressure gage to fuel rail
turned key- pressure was 45psi

tried to start----engine turned over but didnt fire

ok must be spark issue

looked in chiltons manual (just purshased) under diagosis, engine turn over no start

it said check battery, which I know is good
then said nutral saftey switch

so I got back in truck put foot on brake
shifted trans from part to 1st then back to park
turned key and truck started

so I am happy it was that simple

but on older cars that I had if nutral saftey switch
was bad the engine wont turn over

so did I really find the problem?

Neutral safety will not allow starter motor to operate.
So problem still there you had fuel so ignition system at fault. You may never experience it again or it will repeat.

Have a diagnostic scan done of computer and engine controls. It bwould let you know if any component was out of range.

Sunday my son drove truck in snow
rear wheels spun in snow
truck wanted to stall
he pulled over to try to stop from stalling
heard a load wine and the it stopped
engine whent back to normal
after stoping he found out the transmission lost reverse gear
we took it to dealer where we purchased it two weeks ago and they inspected it
revers gear gone and other clutch disc gone
they are doing a total rebuild of trans under the 3k 3 month warenty, thankfully he was only 1200 miles into the 3k 3 month

just wanted you to know wht the initial symtoms where pointing to, a bad trasmission

Can't see anyway trans would keep it from starting.
While it is in there have them do a diagnostic see what turns up.
Was your going from drive to rev to free truck?
From what you said about fuel pressure then no spark is what is goin on. Most likely cause Camshaft sensoe or crankshaft sensor.

No he was not trying to free truck
he was just pulling away from stop light
he did complain before this happend that it didnt seem to want to downshift when passing and somtimes in accelerating would up shift or go thru gears properly. That is why I was thinking all the problems where transmision related
and possibly the transmission position sensor was readding the it was in the wrong gear and thats why engine would roll over and no spark

but yes I will hve them check the cam or crank shaft sensor while truck is in shop

thanks
