1998 Dodge Ram It shut off while driving and wont start now

I'm looking at a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L but theres a problem it wont start the seller said that it shut off while he was driving and it wont start up and the starter wont engage so it wont turn over. Whats wrong with it and how can i fix it and how much will it cost? thank you

Try a new battery 1st and then a starter solenoid if it doesn't start after the battery

Have someone try to turn the key while you hit the solenoid with ether a crow bar or stick broom sticks work best. If it works while doing that you will have to replace the entire starter on that particular model the solenoid cannot be purchased separately
