1998 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 120k miles

after cold start up and traveling.5 miles and up it will start to jerk hesitate and sometimes back fire. I accelerate to about 4k rpm and it will clear, this happens from one to three times before itclears completely. Happens in all weather conditions does not happen all of the time but is getting more consistant. Engine light is not on.

If the check engine light isn't on, I would start by checking fuel pump pressure, for vacuum leaks, and make sure the egr isn't carboned.

Let me know what you find.
