2001 Dodge Neon high pitched squeal then wont start

I was driving and my car made a high pitched squeal and then died. Wont start but I smell gas and the started in fine no battery problems also.

Sounds like possibley something seized like the alternator. Does the car turn over now but wont start or does it not turn over.

It turns over but wont start. It was 2 quarts low also. Put 2 in and tried again it sounds like it wants to.

The high pitch squeel is not a good sound. A compression test of all cylinders is what I would do next to make sure you dont have internal engine failure.

My friend said something about an auto shut off because I was low on oil. He said I might have to do a reset to get it to start agian. Is he out of his mind?

Yeah hes out of his mind, there is no auto shutdown or reset.
