I just bought a 98 neon dohc 2 months ago and it started leaking oil so I took it to a shop and they specified leak was coming from the cam and crankshaft seals so I got new seals and also had the timing belt and water pump while its right there and not knowing the history on the car.A month later transmission starts leaking shop tells me its the seal insided the tranny so they had to drop tranny and while it was dropped they changed the rear main seal. Im not familiar with these cars are they just horrible seals from the factory or is it normal age and mileage issue why they leak so much oil?

132000 miles and 12 years old. Those seals are lucky they held up that long. Neoprene seals are very expensive but they last alot longer. But at 5 bucks more at the factory and 1mill cars. Thats 5 million dollars saved.
