Transmission problem
2000 Dodge Durango V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 90k miles

The durango does not start when in Park. You have to put the truck in neutral to start the engine.

Also, the transmission slips in 3rd and 4th gears.

Is there is an easy and inexpensive way to fix these problems?

For the not starting in park problem, it sounds like a neutral safety switch that is bad, it could cause the slipping also, try a new neutral safety switch and take it from there.
