2002 Dodge Dakota, 109,000 miles, 3.9 L V-6, has been running fine. Went to start the engine today, turned the ignition key, there was a popping sound, and then nothing. It doesn't grind, or anything. If I leave the key in the on position, the radio will turn on. The battery is only a year or two old, and in good shape. Any possible suggestions will be gladly appreciated.

Check the condition of the battery by load testing it and also the connections-if okay could be a security issue or the ignition switch problem-

No crank at all/nothing/nada:

Could be a blown fusible link, the starter, starter relay/park and neutral switch and ignition switch assuming the battery and connections are good.
