I am looking at buying a 97 dodge dakota that has 180000 miles and am worried about the tranny stories should I be

Actually, there have been some problems with the trans in these vehicle. However, at 180K, chances are it has already been rebuilt. Just check the fluid to make sure it is clean and full, and pay attention as to how it shifts. Does it seem to shift smoothly and at the right times?
