My truck shakes whenever i start to accelerate fast from a complete stop. And then when is switching gears it has a hard time kicking in the next gear, it takes about 2 seconds, u can hear the engine force as if the car was in neutral. When the truck is on 4-wheel drive, it does not shake as much. do i need a new transmission?

Sounds like you havemore than one problem. Check all of the u-joints. This may be the cause of the shaking.
The transmission in your dodge is famous for the shifting problem. Try putting some TRANS-X fluid in. If this doesn't help then I am afraid you are in the same boat that millions of dodge owners are in. These transmissions turn to junk around 120000 miles or so. Have a good transmission shop look at it if the TRANS-X doesn't work.
