Transmission

Hello, I was wondering about this dakota. What it does as you take off it will drive perfect then it skips second gear and goes into third. That is what it acts like. Either that or its jumping into second gear. When it jumps it doesnt bog down or lose accleration or anything. What could the problem be and can it get worse. Its been doing that for around 12000 miles.

Have it scanned for soft and hard codes.

We had it scanned and it came up with a exhaust leak but that is all. Could it just need transmission service, or will it need a new transmission?

Check the level and condition of the fluid. It needs to be full when warm. It needs to be red or pink. And not smell burned.
