Just bought a 97 dakota extended 6.9 v6. Just had a rebuilt transmission put in it. Drove it 2 days and noticed that the oil pan was leaking fluid so I went and had it serviced and they replaced the filter, fluid, etc. Went to work the next day and by the time a I got home later that day it was leaking more fluid than it was leaking before. So I took it back to the place that serviced it and they tightened everything in that process they discoverd a line with a bronze tip ( located above the oil pan toward the front of the vehicle)and that what the leaking was. I'm just tryng to figure out what that is and how to go about fixing it?

The lines not leaking is part of the transmission replacement, these should be replaced with a swap at high mileage. I would bring it back to the shop where the trans was replaced, even if it was not their fault they should give you a break on fixing the leak, these lines are part of the transmission. Each line goes to the front of the truch where the radiator is. The lines aren't cheap, they may be able to repair the fitting but I would do this, replace both cooler lines if one went, the other can't be far away. Last week I replaced both an an extended Dakota for 2 hours, the lines cost 187.50 for both. They were OEM lines and add 20 bucks for fluid. So figure around 400 for everything and half for just the one line. Ok? I would have the first shop fix it.
