1988 Dodge Dakota engine doesnt start, fast clicking noise

the truck was starting perfectly every time since ive owned it.I left the dome light on for about 20 hours without knowing of so. When I tried starting it, all I got was a loud fast click noise. When I turned the key over the dash lights would dim. Tried to jump with no avail. One of the connectors on the battery is completly white/corroded. Seems like the click is the starter trying to work but cant? The battery looks rather old. Please help me, much appreciation!

It sounds like the battery is weak. Have you checked it? If you remove it and take it to a parts store, have them load test it to make sure it is good.

Let me know what you find.
