Blower Fan Motor is giving us problems

Hi:
It could be a couple things. First you need to check for power to the motor when it doesn't work. If you're getting power, replace the motor. If no power, move to the blower motor resister. Check for power out there. If power in and none out, replace the resister. If no power to the resister, move back to the switch and check for power in and out. Replace the switch if there is power in and not out. If no power to the switch, you need to trace the power supply to find a bad wire or connection.

Here is the blower motor location so you can replace it. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

i replaced the switch control panrl and the resistor but still have no blower. the compressor is working

Check the relay and the blower motor itself...

The system was straight wired I rewired and put the correct control unitl or relay as per ingo .I have no power to the blower resistor also the control panal buttons are flashing even after running the recalibration mode .I am a retired mechanis and received answers all around the problem no real info just people wanting me to replace things no info on the problem.

here is a wiring diagram. where are you loosing power??

I know you have been everywhere but it is very difficult to diag something you cannot see or touch

Hey Thanks for the clear diagram .I found that behind the control panel was another wire they had by passed .Thanks to the clearer diagram I was able to trace it out .It seems when we don't do these things every day anymore we loose track of it .But I am back on track with this one

my blower motor just started stopping and starting whenever it feels like it. i had a 1998 dodge caravan with the same problem and it started doing the same thing at about the same milage

Yeah me too. I had to put a switch in it. They ran too much currant through it.

did you replace the switch on the control panel inside the van or is there another switch (relay) located elsewhere in the van.

I had to put a switch in the control panel. easy job, but be careful. Key off.
You could see it was burnt and the connector was melting.
Depending on the temp climate controls a resistor is also used for the different speeds also. When the resistor is bad, high speed only. so 3 things, the switch, resistor, and motor could be at fault and of course the circuit that includes the wiring and connectors. ok I'll check back at 11. Joe

My heater-fan speed :wink: switch only works in possitions 2,4&5. I have tried installing a new/used fan switch and it does the same thing. Possitions 1&3 do not work.
What can I replace and where would it be located?

Hey clowe,
It sounds like the blower motor resistor has failed. It should be located in the heater box assy, close to the blower motor. Let us know!

I will do so... But I gave you the wrong engine size;
It is a 6/96 4cyl 2.8ldr. I'm not sure if that will make any difference.

On my 1996 Dodge Caravan My heater blowers and turn signals went out. Is there one relay or fuse that may affect both and if so where is it?

Check fuse 3--40 amp, power distribution center, under the hood. Also, check for voltage at the fuse, use voltage tester, hot all the time. Haven't looked at turn signals, yet.

Blowers for heat have stopped working. I replaced blown fuse and now all it does is make a weird clicking noise on passenger side dash. What could it

I have seen a few things on line that it could be, relay, hvac motor etc... The fuse was blown but i replaced that today and it still does not work. The a/c didn't work when i got it, so im not too concerned about that, but i am unable to defog my windows when i leave for work in the mornings.

This is typical of a tight motor. The fuse may blow again if you switch the fan speed to high. If it does, unplug the fan motor and try it again. If the fuse doesn't blow that way, replace the motor or remove it and spin it by hand to see if it will free up.

1996 Dodge Grand Caravan, 120000 miles, 3.3 engine. Heater fan not blowing out air on a/c or heat. A few months ago it stopped working but started up again. Smelled a bit then stopped working for good. Now it does not blow air out at all on any fan switch position. Fuse not blown, blower works when jumped. What/where do I check next?

make sure you don't have any loose connections. check the hot side and ground. check for any possible corrosion and broken wires.

Hello, I have a '96 Dodge Caravan SE w/ 87,877mi.
I have a strange problem with my van's A/C system. Every time I turn on the blower, there is a clicking noise on the passenger side (under the glove compartment, where the passenger's feet would be if they were sitting in the seat) that will click 20-25 times, and then stop. The blower will still pump out the air, and the heat (or air conditioning) still works fine. I have been researching the internet and cannot find an answer. Any help is appreciated!

I'm having the same problem with my 91 Chevy Truck. Now it is also clicking after I turn off the car and take the key out. It only clicks for like a minute and then goes off the same thing happens when I run the AC and mine also sounds like it is coming from under the dash on the passenger side. I'm assuming something with the blower motor.
