(03 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport 3.8 L) I recently had the check engine come on and when tested by the auto parts store I was told code P0601internal control module memory check sum error. I was then told by the Chrysler dealership that the TCM is bad. I don't know if they are the same thing but the transmission is stuck in 2nd gear and I will be doing the repairs myself. Where is the tcm located and is the repair as simple as just getting a new computer intalled?

Thank you for your time and help!

Thank you for your quick response. Where is the PCM located? You will have to forgive my ignorance regarding these codes and computers but i'm very confused. When the Chrysler dealership ran the scan they didn't give me a code but did say it is the tcm. The P0601 code came from the autoparts store but they advised to take it to Chrysler since they have a complete diagnostic scanner there. I don't want to replace the wrong part as I don't have the money. Would the Chrysler dealership diagnostic scanner not show it to be the pcm? Again, pardon my ignorance. I want to make sure i'm replacing what is broke.

For that code PCM is common fix. This is very Technical and difficult to diagnose. Without vehicle in my presence could not say for certain what to replace. Best to let Dealer do repair then if it does not work then they will have to find proper repair.
