I have a 1996 Grand Caravan with the 3-speed transmission and a 3.0L engine. Recently the speedometer has been jumping around causing the cruise control to fail, the vehicle may stall at slow speeds and and lurches or "boggs down" in the process. I replaced a coolant temp sensor, purge solenoid, O2 sensor, speed sensor and wiring harness at both a mechanics shop and transmission shop to no avail. Tonight the fuel gauge also failed to work until I arrived home and shut off the van then restarted. My best guess is an engine control module.

The error code, which would go off after every repair, gave a code 500 for a speedometer malfunction.

Thanks

The VSs you replaced was it on right transaxle output housing? If yes the problem maybe with the output speed sensor located on transaxle below shift lever. Will set Po500 if VSS and output not in sinc.
