I recently changed the alternator. The car started and ran like a champ, my wife pulled into a gas station it started to chug then quit, she thought she may have ran out of gas. She got pushed to a pump filled up the tank the car would not start. Checked the fuel pump it is on with the key. What could it be?

Yes it cranks and I can hear the fuel pump. I was wondering could something have been bumped while doing the alternator?

I need to know what would shut the fuel pump down, would the chip in key stop fuel, or the camshaft position sensor. Have spark, the connection at firewall fuel is present but no pressure the key fob works the locks the fuel pump was changed in Dec.I'm lost what would just shut down, the code was P0001 fuel volume regulator. Found out after 2004 no schrader valve. Fuel pressure is 35psi

http://www.autocodes.com/p0001.html

Read the tech notes at the top of the link I posted. It say most manufactors don't use that code and could be a error from the code reader.Which would make sense because I don't see that code for your car. Also lots of things will cut fuel but you said you have 35PSi of fuel pressure. It recommends trying a different code reader. There are some China knock off code readers out there that are junk. The first I check on a no start is codes.

The place a bought the fuel pump from said the code points to an electrical problem with the regulator I explained to them there isn't a regulator on that vehicle. But a co-worker asked about a inline fuel filter I thought it was on the pump

That's crazy because it doesn't list that code for the car so it's really hard to say we need the actual code that would really help. So have you checked for injector pulse? We know it's fuel is the security light on solid or flashing with the key in the run position?

You can rent a noid light kit from auto zone. You just unplug your fuel injector plug the noid light in where you Injector went. Then crank the engine over if you have pulse the light will flash while cranking.

The fuel pump runs for a few seconds after turning the key to the run position then turns off that's normal. Also while cranking to start or with the engine running the fuel pump will run constantly.
