55000 miles. The top goes down about half way and then stops. I've looked and don't see anything blocking any parts of the top. The top motor continues making a noise even after the top stops. You have to push the top button again to stop the motor. Do you have any idea what this is? Is there any way to fix this myself or is it a big expensive problem?

It sounds like the hydraulic motor system is having a problem but we should check the fuse first because there are three that run the system.

If they are okay lets test the electrical system.

Here is a bulletin:

The convertible top micro switches on about 21,500 of the above vehicles may bind and the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) software may deform the header motor gear(s) under certain operating conditions. In addition, storing objects forward of the trunk cargo shield can damage the convertible top mechanism if the top is lowered. These conditions can cause the convertible top to become inoperative. If the vehicle DID NOT have RRT 07-025 performed AND the MDH is 062223 or earlier, the tonneau extend, retract and deck lid forward latch micro switches must be replaced, the PTCM must be reprogrammed and a luggage compartment warning tag must be installed. If the vehicle HAD RRT 07-025 performed, OR the MDH is 062300 through 083023, only the deck lid forward latch micro switch must be replaced, the PTCM must be reprogrammed and a luggage compartment warning tag must be installed.there is updated software, start there.

Check out the fuse panel and convertible top wiring diagrams (below)

Please run some tests and get back to us.

Cheers, Ken
