Transmission/electrical issue
1989 Chrysler New Yorker with only 79,000 miles. Current transmission was rebuilt over a year ago. Slowly started acting strange in that it would reach 45 MPH then downshift out of overdrive into second and stay there. Mech. says its electrical but can't find the problem....and its been six weeks of "looking" for it. Any words of advice I can pas along?

The transmission is shifting into second gear as a safety precaution, called limp home mode to prevent any serious damage to the transmission.Take it to a transmission shop and have them plug their code reader into the trans. port in fuse panel, hopefully its electrical and not too expensive.
