is it safe to drive my car if my water pump has a leak in it. I think thats what it is. When I put water in it it slowly drips out the bottom

If the water pump is leaking it is a likely sign that it is about to fail completely. If it does then the engine will overheat and you will be stuck on side of road broke down. I would suggest having it repaired as soon as possible.
