I'm replacing the water pump and I have to take off the belt tensioner on the front of the engine. When I take the bolts out will the tensioner spring loose causing a safety issue?

WATER PUMP

NOTE:Water pump bolts directly to engine block and uses an "O" ring at pump-to-block mating surfaces. DO NOT allow oil or grease to contact "O" ring. Pump cannot be rebuilt and is serviced as a unit.

Removal
Drain cooling system. Cover drive belts and/or pulleys to prevent contact with coolant. If coolant contacts belts and/or pulleys, flush both with clean water.
Open radiator drain located at lower right side of radiator. DO NOT use pliers to open radiator drain. Remove coolant pressure bottle cap and open air bleed valve located on water outlet connector at front of engine. See Fig. 2. Remove primary timing chain. See PRIMARY TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS. Remove water pump bolts. Remove water pump and gasket.
