Engine Mechanical problem
1991 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My dad has a 90 chevy 1500 with a 350, we have recently rebuilt the engine cause the truck was acting like it didnt have any power after we reached 30 mph, it would bog down and not want to run. Well here recently I have been helping him try to find the problem but it keeps coming back to one thing, for some reason the ignition coil on the distributor keeps going out. Do you possibly have any clue on what may be causeing this cause we are running out of money and options and my dad is running out of patience. If you can please email me at Jasonw7684@yahoo. Com and let me know what it may be. Thanks

I would check to make sure the igniiton timing is set properly.

Make sure all the spark plugs are good and the spark plug wires have low resistance. If its too high or not grounding out properly it can cause the wirings in the coil to melt.

What voltages are you getting at its connector? Is rotor and cap good? If they are too worn it can cause too much resistance causing coil to burn out.

Did you make sure all the timing was set up properly? Did you set the ignition timing?

Do as I said!
