Engine Performance problem
2002 Chevy Tracker 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My car will just stop if I am at a stop light/sign or just idling. It will not start after it dies. I have to wait 20 minutes or more before it will start again.

It also won't start if I have driven it for a while and turn the car off to lets say go into a store and come out. I have again have to wait several minutes for the engine to cool down.

I have cleaned the battery, the motor just won't turn over. Please Help me. I have small childern and I can't keep having the car die on me.
Thank you.

Do you have a check engine light and when was your last tune-up??

Next time it dies out on you-don't wat for it to cool down-do below immediately to dtermine if its fuel or spark problem.

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
