The fuel pump on my 1999 Suburban 1500 makes a high pitch noise when the truck is running, the Mechanic says it is normal that all suburban’s make that noise, is this true? Or is my fuel pump about to go out?

Your are right high pitch whine usually indicate iminate pump failure. It could be the filter if it has more than 30K on it. The resistance to fule flow will cause pump to whine.

I have a 1999 suburban that had an abnormally high pitch to the pump since I bought it with 33,500 on it. Pump finally failed at 117,000. A very good idea to replace filter every 30,000 miles and never run fuel tank less than 1/4 full. That pump uses fuel to cool itself.. Mark
