Urgent! 2002 Chevy Silverado 4.3L problems HELP!

Ok so when I try starting it cranks but then stop with a clunk or thud. Then continuously does that sometimes it starts after a good 15-30 min now I cant start it at all. But when it was running it was very jumbly and once I put it in drive it is very hesitant when I step on the gas. And then it smooths out but the power is noticeably not as strong. Then when it tops before the gear change it starts doing the putt putt thing again. After stoping at a stop sign then start going again it does it it accually almost stalled out the last time. I have a trip from san diego to san jose in 3 weeks! Please. Please help asap thank you!

ps. The truck has around 65,000 and also the last time it started it make a loud scwelching sound right when it turned over[/b]

Not sure, only thing I can suggest is, dont trust that car to get you on your trip. I think its the transmisson

Obviously im not going to drive it like it is. But transmisson? Thats I new one.I have heard timing and fuel pump stuff

the truck shifts fine I dont see how that could be

Well dont qoute me on anything. You might be right, fuel pump. Even if the check engine light is not on, I would still have a dealer or auto zone plug in the computer and see what comes up.
