99 Silverado ext cab 4x4 5.3 around 155K miles on it.

i have both of these codes which are.
C0237 Speed sensor erratic, rear
C0238 Stop lamp switch circuit

abs light comes on at different times. Normally above 30 or so. But really all over the place. Sometimes just flashes on then off. Others, comes on and stays for longer. Bumps seem to trigger as well as hitting brakes.

i have noticed the red brake light flash on before as well.

any ideas? Where to start. Which sensor may be doing this?

Also should mention I have had the batt light flash on in message center and noticed guages drop for a second them all come back to normal right afterward. Not sure if connected or not, but figure I should say something about it. Only happened 2 times since started driving it.

also, truck was wrecked when bought, front end. All fixed now, just started driving it.

I would be looking at the brake light wires to the rear, especially since bumps seem to trigger the probelm.

What about a switch or sensor on the brake pedal under dash, could this cause the brake circuit code? I mean, my brake lights come on as they should.I don't get the point behind that code.

I will check the wiring to the lights though. Truck was recently repainted and the bed was removed, maybe some wire is loose or damaged.

Check at the wheels and differential, some trucks have sensors at each wheel, other have only one in the differential. Check the color of the wires, then trace them back past the bed, if it was removed, they may have pinched a wire or two!
