When I tried to start it, it told me it did not recognize my key, why?

Someone siphoned my gas the other night. I put gas back in the truck and when I tried to start it, it told me it did not recognize my key? This was strange since my key is not coded. I disconnected the battery and reconnected to clear the codes. Now my truck will not start. I don't hear the fuel pump working. I'm not sure what to do next.

The key is coded, the chip is inside the black part of the key, i would do a hard system reboot which should fix it, here is a guide to help you:
