Ok well I have a 1995 chevy s10 pickup and I was driving home one day and I had the air conditioning turned on this was the first time since I had the truck I had the air conditioning on. So I was driving down the road and I heard a noise so I turned the radio off then the air conditioner and the noise stopped and I thought nothing of it so I am almost home air conditioning on and then I come to a stop sign and my truck just dieds so I get it to the side of the road after trying to get it started I even tried to catch it in gear but it didn't work. So I popped the hood and found my batterie is extremely hot and acid pouring out and then I lost all power to my truck the battery went completely dead, so I got some one to help me jump it and we tried and tried to get it to start and we watched it and every time the serpintine belt tightened up and the motor just made a first cycle and stopped I figured that the compressor is bad and won't let the motor turn over, every one else tells me it is seized up and I have to find a new engine we did get it to fire up one more time but my uncle shut it off cause he said it was knocking but I think it was the compressor pulley that is why I think the motor isn't seized up I looked at the belt that morning before I left and I was a little stretched but nuttin really else was wrong but when I looked at the belt afterwards it was all chewed up and had missing teeth that is why I think it is the a/c compressor so can some one please help me out and tell me what is going on

thank you

Hi there,

Remove the belt and you should be able to turn the compressor clutch with out any problem. If seized replace, if ok you can run the engine with out the belt or at least try to start it, if it knocks with the the belt removed you will have to look further into the engine to find your problem.
