I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. I am replacing the serpentine belt and noticed that a engine mount is in the way of me getting the belt on. What do I need to do to get this serpentine belt on and is there a way around the engine mount or do I have to remove it? Thanks

Yes, you must remove the engine mount assembly from the engine mount bracket supprt. You will also need to lower the engine to allow the belt to be installed.

The best way to do this is to supprt the engine by the oil pan....wooden block and a jack should do fine.....then remove the engine mount and slowly lower the engine until you can install the belt. Then raise the engine and reinstall the mount.

Sounds difficult, but after it is complete, you will be so very proud of yourself.
