I'm stumped. Car sometimes starts right up, idles smoothly for about 2 minutes, then runs rough and emits black smoke from exhaust. Other times it won't start unless you hold the pedal to the floor. Replaced fuel pressure regulator. You can hear fuel pump running every time you turn the key on. Checked fuel pressure behind the filter. Had plenty of pressure. HELP

You should have at least 40 p.S.I. At the injector rail. Replace the fuel filter and clean the throttle body. Then if you have a guage see how much pressure you are getting at the rail. If your check engine light is on, which i'm thinking ti probably is, take it to a pro se he can scan it and stop replacing unecessary parts.
