1997 Chevy Monte Carlo 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my car won't start sometimes I turn the key and get power but it won't start sometimes is it the ignition switch if so the upper or lower one I changed the starter and it still happens I have a 3.1L and a chip in my key

Do you think the problem might be the theft system? Have you tried cranking it in neutral? Have you done any testing at the starter solenoid? The smaller purple wire should be hot, with the key in the crank position. Any testing make sure the tranny is in park or neutral.

I tried it in park and neutral when I get it to start it starts fine for a couple times then its takes a while after that

You'll have to do testing at the solenoid when the problem occurs.
