I definately have noisy lifters that need replaced. I've had a number of people listen to it and have told me what they think it is, including a guy that works at Murray's. I've bought new rods and lifters. I've borrowed a torche wrench. Now my predicament is not knowing how big of a job it is. I've heard stories of lifters taking three days to do! I've also heard that sometimes they are in the back, and sometimes you have to take the whole engine block out. I don't believe that there is any room for lifters in the back. In the back there is spark plugs and an O2 censor. I've changed those before and it felt like just the engine block was there. Does anyone know what a lifter job is like with a chevy lumina van?

Well there are lifters in the back head, under each push rod is a lifter, there is a special tool to pull the lifter out, so its pretty simple remove the pushrod replace the lifter move to the next one, until you've completed them all. Of course you have to remove the rocker arm first, but thats a given. Really not that hard of a job to do, only people that have heard stroies, and never done them are intimidated by the job. But you'll be alright, just one at a time
